Spetsstall GOR Works Ltd. — new metallurgical complex melting ultra low carbon and corrosion resistant steel grades and alloys by gas-oxygen method of refining (GOR). Complex works on technology patent for which is taken out by the scientists from National Mining academy of Ukraine, this allows to realize in practice unique engineering solutions and know-how of scientists-metallurgist.
Melting of steels and alloys is made on the base of duplex-process (melting in electric arc furnace and converter re-malting).
On the enterprise converter with 5 tons capacity is installed, it produces 7,78 thousands of tons per year of high quality steel grades and alloys. The special feature of this converter is the possibility to realize both oxidizing and reduction conditions of refining during steel melting.
During the combined purging of the liquid melt by technical gas mixes, decarbonization of the semi product occurs, and higher degree of recovery is obtained for Cr (95%), Mn (70%) and other elements, which have specially high burn-off loss level in usual technology of arc melting. Aggregate is equipped with computer control system based on controller of blast mode produced by company Allen Bradley (USA).
This technology allows to produce special steel grades, acid-proof, heat-resistant, precision steel grades and the so called steels of carbamide class with specially low content of carbon (up to 0,015%), nitrogen-alloyed steels, and steels for nuclear industry.
Main groups of the steels melted:
- Special steels are solving the tasks for pipe-line valves and equipment to work in specially aggressive mediums (nitric, sulphuric, hydrochloric and chromic acids, chloric mediums, hydrogen sulphide, carbon dioxide and other mediums with concentration of active substances up to 95%), and also under the conditions of low or high temperatures.
- 02Õ25Í22ÀÌ2; 03Õ17Í14Ì3 — steels of carbamide class.
- 15ÃÑÀÒÞ-ÃÐ; ASTM A350LF2 — cold-resistant, corrosion-resistant steel grades for using under the conditions of low temperature and under the influence of ocean water.
- 03(06)ÕÍ28ÌÄÒ — alloy with the high content of nickel to work in conditions of sulfuric production.
- Precision steel grades: GOR technology allow to produce steel grades with extremely high precision of chemical composition, which is the most important thing for obtaining specified mechanical and chemical properties of materials and products.
- Economically alloyed steel grades like: 03Õ18Í3ÀÃ5Ë, 05Õ18ÀÍ5ÔË. This group of materials makes decent alternative to traditional alloyed steel grades. Substantial decreasing of costs without loss of corrosion resistance is reached due to extremely low content of carbon in steel and minimization of content of expensive alloying elements. Optimization of casting process gives additional lowering of costs for such steel grades. As a result — implementation of economically alloyed steel grades is profitable for the consumers of traditional kinds of stainless steels.
Results of mechanical tests and data on chemical analysis acquired during test-industrial melts, showed that using GOR complex makes it possible to produce metal products with specified parameters in chemical composition and mechanical properties. Not big volume of converter allow to produce small quantity orders (from 3,5 till 5,0 tons) according to technical requirements of the customer.
Metallurgical complex GOR works together with JSC Armaprom, that manufactures pipeline valves (for general industry and special application). Using extremely low carbon steel grades makes it possible to extend the time period of products exploitation and make it 2,5-3 times as long.
Pipeline valves and equipment manufactured from the steel of these grades have the widest range of application, which allows to work in especially aggressive mediums.
Besides improvement of castings quality, widening of melted steels assortment (there are more than 90 of them), GOR technology enables to melt low carbon chromium-nickel corrosion-resistant steel grades and alloys on the level of international standards from secondary material, without fresh furnace feed.
It also should be pointed out that the enterprise already mastered the technology of bottom casting of highly alloyed steel grades and alloys into ingots with the weight from 0,25 till 5,0 tons for further production of forgings and sections.
